Extended Stays

Looking for more than a quick getaway to Hawaii? We have a few special homes in our collection that exclusively offer stays of 31 nights or more. Whether you are lucky enough to escape to the tropics for the seasonal weather, recuperating from a life change,  or just looking to have a home base to explore the island more in-depth, then look no further. These rentals offer travelers a place to call home while retreating to the island for much needed down time, writing your firsts novel or wanting to feel like a ‘local’ and get an authentic feel of island life.

Blue Makai (Formerly Blue Dragon)

The Blue Dragon Beach Bungalow has a sense of spaciousness on the property with a large yard and shoreline access. White, yellow and pink hibiscus, Royal Poinciana, lau’ae ferns, breadfruit, papaya and coconut trees surround you. Mature flowering trees provide shade while you relax or prepare meals using the hibachi, eating right at the picnic table on the pavilion. More trees just above the water’s edge offer additional shade for enjoying the sights and sounds, balmy breezes and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Hawaii GE & TA tax number 142-863-6672-01

Hot homemade donuts as you wait. Be sure to visit uncle Bobby for a fresh cut coconut with a straw. Puako is home to the largest collection of Hawaiian petroglyphs (rock drawings) in the State. Take the family on a petroglyph hunt and ask them what they think these ancient symbols could mean. Just make sure the whole family is wearing good shoes The site is unpaved and goes through a kiawe forest with thorns on the ground. Over 3,000 of these drawings can be found in Puako alone, each with a story to be told. Come and create your own story here. Our goal is to make the house a home away from home for our family and yours. We hope the big island and Puako will be a place you always want to come back to. Hale Ohana

This 2200 square foot home was built in 2002 with an additional bedroom and bathroom added in 2012. It was designed in old Hawaii plantation style with a roomy 1100 square feet of lanai, screens and sliders that open full length plus louvered windows to encourage the tropical trade winds to maintain the home at a comfortable temperature without the use of air conditioning. A seawall on the ocean side of the home protects the landscape from salt-water damage so the lush tropical flora flourishes. The dipping pool outside the north bedroom wing is the perfect spot to refresh after a day of golf or tennis at one of the nearby resorts. Between two tall coconut palms, sway in the cozy hammock while listening to the melody of the rolling waves. The covered lanai features built-in cushioned seating for two, teak lounge chairs and dining table, plus a serving area with sink. Entry to the ocean is at the nearest public shoreline access (2 houses away) as the sea wall prevents direct ocean access from the property. Hawaii GE & TA tax number 014-561-0752-01
