The property was chosen by the family matriarch in the early 1950s for its location along some of the best tidal pools in Puako, where children can swim, fish and play, protected by a perimeter of ancient lava flows. The adjacent “Big Rock” rises above the pools, setting the stage for social gatherings and sunset watching. Turtles come to call daily, feeding on the seaweed at the Big Rock’s edge. In the winter, humpback whales pass by, 100-plus yards offshore, cavorting with their young. With the constant sea breezes, the rustling coconut palms and waves provide a natural rhythm of music to this idyllic setting. There is a second small rental cottage on the property, called Tree House. If you have not rented Tree House as well, there may be 1 or 2 guests during your stay, but they are to use the public beach access next door, not your yard to access the ocean. Washer and dryer in the carport are shared. Over the Holiday Season (December 15th through January 5th) Beach Banyan and Tree House are rented together for $1,050 nightly plus taxes and fees. During the non-holiday season they can be rented together for $750 nightly, plus taxes and fees. Hawaii GE & TA tax number 080-763-2896-01, STVR-19-356740, NUC-19-875

Guest Reviews

“Our family (two couples and one two year old) just enjoyed ten days at Beach Banyan, truly a paradise house and location. First of all, the house has everything we needed and more, from kitchen and all household amenities, to needed beach items like chairs and boogie boards. Every room is oriented towards the million dollar view. Snorkeling is right off the rocks right in front. You can walk to nearby hotels. The large lawn is great for kids and adults too. A huge new BBQ is steps from the kitchen. Puako is a great neighborhood, quiet but convenient, with a small nearby store for last minute needs and just a couple of miles from a large grocery store. It's our third time staying in Puako and we love it. Beach Banyan is about as perfect as it gets. The rental agents make everything easy too.”

“Beach Banyon gave us the real Hawaii we remember. Snorkeled every morning, watched turtles swim by every afternoon. Enjoyed the lawn and beach lounges daily. Relaxed on the upstairs porch (which was huge) w/tropical cocktails each evening. House is fully equipped. Plenty of room for families. The management company was available at all times. Made friends with a few of the local home owners. They gave us great recommendations for things to do and places to snorkel. Everyone was so nice. Can't wait to go back to Beach Banyon! Mahalo to all..”

“The Beach Banyan House was wonderful. Views of the beach from every room (even 1 of the bathrooms). A pleasant breeze went through the house - keeping it cool with fresh air (no need for AC). Kitchen was fully stocked. Beds comfy. Beach towels, boogie boards, snorkel gear, and coral friendly sunscreen provided. Past the lawn is a beautiful area of tidepools, and a wonderful snorkel area that you share with sea turtles (all public access). Sandy beach only a couple of houses down. Green sea turtles have a resting pool/beach area 2 houses away. Take binoculars or good lens and you can see the fish cleaning the turtles (must stay 25 ft away and not disturb them). State beaches just a couple miles away. We shall return!”

“My wife and I spent a week at the house and had a marvelous time. The evening sunsets viewed from the upper lanai were magical. Walk out the back door, a few steps across the lawn and then slip into the ocean for a swim...hard to beat!”
