‘Ehu Kai is a cozy cottage located on the sandy beach of Waialea Bay. Hand crafted with oak floors and cedar paneling, this sweet home has high ceilings, a convenient kitchen (with its own ocean view), and artwork by local craftspeople. Built to make the most of its proximity to the sea, ‘Ehu Kai offers second-floor ocean views and cooling breezes. Add the comfort of beautiful shade-producing landscaping for a perfect Hawaii vacation. The home can accommodate 2 adults and 2 kids (under 12 years old) as there is a Queen size sofa sleeper in the living room. It would not be comfortable for 4 adults.

  Our 7 day stay at Ehu Kai cottage was delightful. Much thought and design was put into this treehouse type bungalow which typifies old hawaiiana with rich wood interior paneling. Perfectly clean upon arrival. Easy access to the beach and snorkeling. Grocery shopping a short drive away. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware with very nice appliances. The air flow from many windows,the ceiling fans and nice bedding made sleeping very comfortable. The staff at 2 Papayas was excellent in helping arrange our reservation,notifing us prior to arrival, updating us with weather warnings, quickly resolving any house repairs and providing a thorough to-do list for easy check out at our time of departure. Hawaii Surf & Kayak delivered SUP Boards to the bunglow for our length of stay and we did a kayak tour with them nearby viewing turtles, manta rays and octopus. Hearing the local songbirds each morning was a special treat!

  The location was great, right on a snorkeling beach with a small ocean view. Short drive to Puako Bay where there is incredible snorkeling. The property contains everything needed for meals, comfortable king sized bed and the air conditioners work great. Mary was very responsive to all my questions.

  This is a very comfortable home for a couple or small family. We also rented Ulu Nui as we were a large family group. The location is oceanside, with a white sandy beach, has fantastic swimming and snorkeling with turtle viewing nearby. We had sunset watch every evening, beach star gazing at night, barbeques, and dinners on the lanai. The beach is easy to access for small children. Location is quiet, an easy drive to markets, shopping or entertainment. Most mornings and evenings I was the only one in the water! Manager is attentive and services are all arranged for a carefree visit. Love, love, love this location and the accommodations.

  This is our second stay in this wonderful house and we are already looking forward to next year. Talk about a hidden gem. Basically right on the beach, but with privacy. Stocked with everything you might need or want and Mary’s team is just a phone call away in case anything comes up. From having the Hawaiian music channel playing and cold towels and a pitcher of cold filtered water in the fridge when you arrive, to the papayas and limes ready to use. We settle in like it’s home.

  First - communication and coordination with Mary and her team was excellent. Very straight forward the entire process. We arrived at Ehu Kai - everything as planned. Wonderful property - neat as a pin - perfect for our stay! We really enjoyed having certain basic items provided - like coffee filters etc - all those small little items that you hate to buy for a short time period etc. The grill was fantastic for grilling fish - and we ate outside on the outdoor lanai every breakfast and dinner! Has AC but we didn't need it - the breeze through the windows is incredibly relaxing at night. Incredible location - we will be back!

  We had a wonderful stay at this true beach house. A great house for 2. Nicely furnished, clean and well equipped. Mary and her team are excellent. When we arrived there were fresh flowers, fruit as well as chilled wet cloths in the fridge. The beach is literally steps away. We experienced a personal emergency and Mary came to our rescue. We have already booked next year!

The house is in great shape, nicely updated and kept super clean, with everything you could need provided. The addition of air conditioning made for a happy August stay, though we only needed it for short periods a few times. (Usually, plenty of breezes and screened windows keep things comfortable.) Mary and everyone at 2 Papayas were professional and helpful, as always. Daily swims and beautiful sunsets just a few minutes from our front door made for a special stay.
