Guest Reviews

“We had such a wonderful time here! The house and location are even lovelier than the photos. The house is spacious and comfortable, and the kitchen is well-equipped. The location on the water is fabulous. We had a blast walking out and exploring the tide pools right in front of the house, full of colorful fish and sea turtles. We ate dinner outside on the picnic tables, and watched the sun go down on the recliners. My husband especially enjoyed the hammock in the yard. Marley was very kind and helpful. The house did get a little warm in the middle of the day, since only the bedrooms have AC, but we didn't mind too much. Highly recommended!”

“We really enjoyed the house. In our 5 nights, we only left for to go to dinner. The house has a unique area to enjoy the ocean view where there is protection from the structure (sitting area pictured) and easy access to the water. We snorkeled everyday and hung out at the reef's edge (BTW, we are advanced snorkelers, went out when tide was high in the morning, seas were very calm for us) and enjoyed countless turtles being cleaned at cleaning stations, a couple manta rays and an eagle ray! Easily one of the nicest areas we have snorkeled on the Big Island. When the visibility is bad because of upwelling and plankton, look out for those big grazers! Super exciting. We also appreciated the quaint old-Hawaiian beach house, made it feel like a true get-a-way. We will definitely be back to this property.”

“This beach house was exactly what our family was looking for to spend our vacation! We go to Hawaii every year and this is our favorite house yet! It was very relaxing to be right on the ocean with access to the tide pools. The yard was fantastic and absolutely made the trip! We enjoyed breakfast/coffee with views and sounds of ocean and birds as well as sunsets on the porched patio. We enjoyed fresh limes and all of the plumeria trees with falling flowers. The hammock was used everyday and became a focal point with our children laughing and swinging. The sunsets overlooking the beach (chairs) were gorgeous and breathtaking. We did not need to worry letting our 2 1/2 yr old run through the grass as it had a wall to the ocean! He also sat in the tide pools and called them his little pool. We enjoyed all the sounds of the birds and waves! It was clean and updated! We had access to beach toys, chairs, cooler and washer/dryer. The house was stocked with ample paper towels, toilet paper and plenty of condiments in fridge! 2Paayas greeted us for our stay with papayas, cold towels and water in the fridge! They answered several questions before we booked and worked to accommodate us in the best property for our budget before we arrived! We didn’t see any bugs, the house is well maintained with beautiful Hawaiian beach furnishings. We questioned if we would want to be at the resort with access to restaurants, this was not an issue at all. We enjoyed relaxing at the beach house cooking, buying some ready to eat items from nearby stores. You can walk to the fairmont hotel in about 15 minutes as well but have access to a much more relaxed beach. We counted 21 sea turtles right next to us where they rest! Mahalo Marley, Mary and all at 2papayas! We would love to come back soon!”

“My family and I really enjoyed our stay in Puako. The house was clean, comfortable and in a great location. The views were stunning and Mary and her staff at 2 Papayas were excellent. The check was smooth, they made sure we were comfortable and did everything possible to ensure that we had a wonderful stay.”
