Hawaii is known for its beautiful vistas, sunny weather, and spectacular beaches. But only the Island of Hawaii, the Big Island, offers most of the world’s climates and unrivaled natural wonders in the smallest geographical area anywhere on earth: from arid to alpine, from rain forest to one of the world’s most active volcanoes – Kilauea. We have the world’s tallest sea mountain – Mauna Kea, 32,000 feet from the ocean floor, nearly 14,000 feet above sea level, and its most massive mountain – Mauna Loa, as well as the largest park in the state – Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. What you won’t find on the Big Island—urban sprawl, 6-lane highways or over-crowded beaches.
There is no more delightful home base for exploring the Big Island than the neighborhood of Puako and the homes of Waialea Bay and South Kohala. Still miraculously “undiscovered,” Puako is a long-time residential beach community rich in ancient Hawaiian history. Waialea Bay, just a stone’s throw from Puako, and midway to Hapuna Beach, one of the world’s most popular beaches, offers a sandy beach, sunny shore and shady privacy. There are only a small number of homes along Waialea Bay: here you will really get away from it all.
